The 3 in. diameter base has 3 contact points to resist tipping. Because this specialized cylinder is intended for quick and clear hydrometer readings there are no graduations to obscure your instrument, and the narrow 1 inch diameter bore means you can take an accurate reading with less product than a normal graduated cylinder.
