John Hamilton Stanton is left an orphan at 16 when a random car explosion takes the life of his father and mother at the gate of an American army base in Germany where his father was stationed. But was the bombing really random?

John goes to live with his grandfather in a small New Jersey town. Over the next few years John periodically attempts to get information on the status of the investigation into his parentsâ€™ death and is thwarted by governmental bureaucracy and dead end answers. As a reward to himself, after graduation from college, John returns to Germany to conduct some information gathering on his own.
Somewhere along the line of his inquiries alarms are sent out and his search is discovered. Someone wants him to stop and sends a very stern warning to back off and leave thing alone.
Johnâ€™s determination sets him on a mission that leads him to discover a lot about his father, his friends, his fathers associations, and mostly about him.
