The Story Behind the Model
At first glance, one might assume that the Gold Knight of Nice is a character taken out of an old King Arthur legend. However, his gold-plated armor realistically represents how typical knights appeared throughout the medieval period. Many elite soldiers of the time were given similar-looking armor for use in battle and jousting. It usually consisted of metal pieces (including gauntlets and a breastplate), which were specially tailored to fit that particular knight.
