Zi took my hand and I swallowed, the pulse beating all the way to my fingertips. We walked, our hands fitting perfectly, swinging gently. Her thumb rubbed mine, the dim light shadowing the small, contented smile on her face as we came closer to another thick steel door.

She pulled her hand away.

And then I heard a click as Zi materialized a gun from somewhere on her person. She held her extended finger to her mouth to quiet me, eyes glinting with amusement.

I stood frozen, gaping.
