This book documents the early history of Wayne County, NC beginning in 1701 with the first exploration of the state's interior by John Lawson through the first white settlers, and ending with the outbreak of the Civil War. The book is rich with pictures and explores many of the rural structures of Wayne County, some still standing and others long since forgotten.
