Prussian Quartets 1-3

Following their Prussian Quartets Nos. 4-9 recordings, the Pleyel Quartet of Cologne now present Ignaz Pleyel's String Quartet Nos. 1-3. All these quartets were extremely popular during Pleyel's lifetime and transmit a clear picture of his versatility in the field of chamber music. The Quartet, drawing on the most historically accurate sources for their interpretations, perform three more of these Prussian Quartets employing dramatic harmonies and tonal surprises to produce their special impact.
