This welding kit is intended for use on plastic water tanks but can be used on almost anything made of polyethylene. Most plastic water tanks, rain barrels and many other items like canoes and kayaks are made of thermoplastic polyethylene. This kit can also be used to weld other types of plastic such as polypropylene but the correct type of filler rod must be used to match the material being welded. Polyethylene is also used in automotive applications like windshield washer bottles and radiator overflow tanks. It is also used on ATV fenders, small watercraft, motor home water tanks, dirt bike fenders, gas tanks and agricultural water/fertilizer tanks. A high degree of molecular branching with long chains gives molten LDPE unique and desirable flow properties, making it easier to work with while producing a high-strength and durable bond for both LDPE and HDPE welds.
