Satisfied users of our original trough, the PortaTrough 5, (Item 938000 on Amazon) asked for a shorter version to provide grain, minerals or water to fewer animals; to fit into smaller pens and jugs; to enable the feeding of several rams on pasture; and to more readily produce the ideal "bloom" on a pen of show lambs or kids. Excellent all purpose trough for birds and small animals. Works well for providing feed or water to waterfowl or livestock protection dogs and puppies. Difficult for animals to tip over. High sides prevent feed from being knocked out and wasted. Stackable for easy movement and storage. Side handle allows it to be inverted with a toe to tip out water or ice. Won't break if water freezes in it, as the rounded inner trough allows ice to expand upward as it freezes. Rounded inner base is slick so sheep and goats dislike stepping in them.
