Picks up right after the events of Book 5, WAR. The North attacked Jay's farm, hoping to kill him at the site of his new shelter cave in. The North made a mistake, Jay wasn't there, his wife, Lacy, was. As the story opens, Jay's holding the love of his life in his arms. The rescue crew is either dead or wounded. In addition his friends are still trapped in the caved in new shelter. jay's daughter and granddaughter have been kidnapped by the North to use as a means to control him.
Jay's become the unelected President of the Confederacy. He wants to hold elections ASAP, he has to decide if he's going to run or not. He wants to build a new capital, one that the North can't destroy. He decides to carry the war to the North by using the Bible, a book he knows the existing administration has most likely never opened. Jay and his friends have to fight the the North while also getting his family back alive and convincing other countries to recognize his new country. At the same time he has problems in the Confederacy due to his plans of turning the Confederacy into a conservative paradise. Not everyone agrees with him reforming welfare other entitlement programs.
