Built to haul coal, for more than 80 years it serviced the mines of Dunmore and Jessup, an area that once played host to an astonishing number of railroads including the Erie, Delaware and Hudson, New York Susquehanna & Western and New York Ontario & Western as well as the lesser-known Moosic Mountain & Carbondale and Grassy Island. Experience the successes and failures of the region’s early entrepreneurs as they worked to provide anthracite coal to power the industrial revolution.
