Description
- The retroscaler2x is a converter that accepts 240p/480i/288p/576i NTSC/PAL signal sources and outputs HDMI-compatible 480p/576p signals (480p to NTSC, 576p to PAL). For example, it correctly supports 240p signals, enabling full interlaced doubling at 480p. 480i signals are deinterlaced and upscaled to 480p equivalents. Note that this device's maximum output resolution is limited to 480p/576p.
- Zero Latency: The retroscaler2x is a zero-latency device, validated through numerous measurements and equipment tests.
- Compatible Regions: Both NTSC and PAL signals are supported, but they cannot be converted between each other. This means you can connect any signal compatible with your target device, but NTSC may not function on HDMI PAL-compatible devices, and vice versa.
- Audio Performance: Audio performance on the retroscaler2x is quite good, though we must stop short of calling it perfect. For general use, audio digitization works fine, but it sounds like explosions on the bust, and the output may sound a bit rougher than through an OSSC. This isn't something you'd likely notice on TV speakers, though it might become apparent if you have an external amplifier or home theater system. In such cases, positioning audio around the Retroscaler2X is usually quite straightforward regardless.
- By putting the RetroScaler2X into pass-through mode, incoming composite, s-video or component signals are simply transparent and digitized into HDMI-compatible.
