Rivarossi HO Scale - US Army S-100 0-6-0 Steam Locomotive DCC Ready
- Die-cast boiler to maximize pulling power
- 5 pole can motor with flywheels
- NMRA RP-25 wheel profile, Knuckle couplers
- Authentic roadnames, lettering and road numbers
- DCC / Ready
The S-100 steam locomotive was developed in the US by the Davenport Locomotive Works and also built by H. K. Porter and the Vulcan Iron Works. These locomotives were staged in the UK prior to the D-Day invasion in France. They were built as a safeguard; as the US Army had no guarantee that there would be any usable motive power available in France after the Allied invasion. Some of these locomotives also saw domestic service in the US after World War II. The Granite Rock #10 currently resides at the California State Railroad Museum in Sacramento California and the Albemarle Paper locomotive is owned by the Old Dominion chapter of the HRHS and is located in Richmond Virginia.
