Demon

A 1974 Soviet-era recording of Anton Rubinstein's The Demon. Inspired by the Mikhail Lermontov poem, the opera, initially a great public success, was subsequently almost totally forgotten; only a few of its fragments were widely known. Lately, Russian and foreign opera houses have been showing a renewed interest in it. Alexander Polyakov, then a future soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre and Nina Lebedeva, a Bolshoi soloist and remarkable performer, star in this production.
