Chasing and repousse (or repoussage) are techniques used by artisans and craftsmen to shape and emboss malleable metals such as copper, brass, tin, steel, silver or gold for jewelry, sculptures and other items. Repousse is hammering from the back side of the workpiece to raise a design or form and chasing refers to shaping or indenting the surface from the front. This premium-grade tool does both with a 1" round flat face and 1/2"-diameter ball peen opposite. Very well balanced with a 9-1/2" pear-shape handle that's extremely comfortable to hold and offers excellent control. Works great with rubber and/or steel jeweler's bench blocks (available separately).
