The 578 also features the GLSTM, an innovative technology that automatically secures the weapon when holstered and releases it upon application of the middle finger with a standard shooting grip for a more intuitive and safer release.

This model is equipped with an easy on/easy off paddle attachment. The holster is constructed of SafariSeven, a proprietary nylon that is completely non-abrasive, tolerant of both high and low temperatures, and very easy to maintain. Retention is achieved by the Safariland Grip Lock System (GLS) which automatically secures the weapon when holstered. The weapon is released by the middle finger upon application of a standard shooting grip, permitting a smooth, rapid and natural draw.
