Ludwig von Koopa (known as Kooky von Koopa in the cartoons) is the oldest member and presumed leader of the seven Koopalings. He likes to compose "Koopa Symphonies", much like his namesake, Ludwig van Beethoven, who may have also been the inspiration for the Koopaling's hair design. Lemmy Koopa is the smallest of the group, and is often associated with childish traits due to his stature and personality. He is well recognized for his multicolored mohawk, and was named after Lemmy Kilmister, the lead singer and bass guitarist of the English heavy metal band Motorhead. Roy Koopa wears a purple shell, referring to the Japanese color of death. Roy also wears hot pink sunglasses similar to his namesake, the legendary rock and roll musician, Roy Orbison.
