Moving moments, desperation in the face of destruction and perfidy, farewells that break one's heart - concert arias are great dramas reduced to a few minutes and a single individual. For her fourth Berlin Classics CD, Scene! soprano Christiane Karg chose once again to work with Arcangelo and its conductor Jonathan Cohen, with whom she won the coveted Echo Award for her debut album Amoretti. What fascinates her about these particular arias? "Large scale emotions in a small space with lost souls at the centre - forlornness that can also turn to hatred... that's what I want to demonstrate."
