The hills east of Scrantonâ€™s downtown are home to one of the most eclectic and historic neighborhoods in America. Scrantonâ€™s aptly named Hill Section developed over the course of the 19th and 20th centuries, from what was originally rugged terrain and dense forest to a socially diverse enclave. Ultimately, the Hill Section became home to many well-known educational and medical centers, beautiful parks, and cultural establishments. In the 21st century, the Hill Section is still a thriving community that continues to preserve its heritage.
