Product Description
Skywater Downspout Diverter for Rain Harvesting - Attach Hoses Directly to 2x3 Downspout, Use Rainwater for Landscaping, No Rain Barrel Required
- Divert rainwater away from buildings to trees, yards, and gardens for immediate natural storage. Attach 1-2 water hoses directly to downspout (hose cap not included). Fits only standard 2"x3" downspouts, and needs 1.5" all-round clearance. Suitable for light to moderate rain.
- Install and remove in seconds. No cutting, drilling, or drain modification required.
- Press firmly while tightening alternately. Some dripping is expected. Clean gutters and good drainpipe conditions work best. Attach hoses after device is installed.
- Negative comments trace back to wrong size downspout, not pressing firmly while tightening, and downspout condition. Our product has been selling nationwide since 2018.
DESCRIPTION
Skywater is presented as a light-duty tool expected to make rainwater more usable; suitable for light to moderate rain.
The connector leads the next generation of rain harvesting, performing with or without rain barrels. Simple thumbscrew attachment allows homeowners easy entry into water conservation and supplemental irrigation. It bridges gaps between storms, replenishing a lawn's mini aquifer. Skywater is light, portable, and visually discreet. It appeals to water savings, green living, and healthy landscapes. Ten inches of rainfall on a 1,000 sq.-ft. roof yields over 6,000 gallons of water. One more tool for water-wise homeowners. Made in USA.
INSTALLATION
The connector is only for 2"x3" standard downspouts typically found in home improvement centers. It requires 1.5" all-around clearance for proper fit. Two plastic spacers are included, if needed, to ensure a snug fit. A tight seal is essential: push Skywater firmly onto downspout and tighten thumbscrews alternately. Attach 1-2 water hoses to the connector (hose cap not included). Product includes extra neoprene gasket. Some dripping helps reduce ponding and algae build-up. Video on YouTube.
CAVEAT
The connector works, and it works well. How much rainwater diverted depends on your drainpipe system. Rainwater is channeled into two small water hoses and may back-up the drainpipe. In some systems, this may cause seeping from drainpipe joints. Sealed joints and debris-free gutters work best. Buyers should be aware of their drainpipe condition and consider this before making a purchase. If this is acceptable, fixable, or a non-issue, then Skywater may work for you!
REBATES
Water conservation rebates are popular with many municipal water departments. Some agencies show flexibility with rain harvesting products, either individually or as part of an overall conservation design. Inquire with your local water agency about rebate potential.
