Highly detailed 1:48 scale desktop model of the F4U Corsair¨. Features markings Major Gregory "Pappy" Boyington's F4U-1A Corsair¨, decorated with 20 small Japanese Rising Sun flags (representing 20 aerial victories) and adorned with the nickname Lulubelle. This particular aircraft was used only for a photo opp, but is remembered for itÕs recognition of this ace fighter who later commanded the famous U.S. Marine Corps squadron, VMF-214 ("The Black Sheep Squadron") during World War II. Model includes display stand and educational collectorÕs card. Officially licensed model in collaboration with the curators of the Smithsonian Institution. Measures 7.5 inches long with 9 inch wingspan.
