Surprise

First time on CD for the 1989 debut release from the American Alt-Rock band originally only released on cassette. 25 years ago, SURPRISE became the first album recorded by Better Than Ezra, and the only album to include all four original members. Until now only a few thousand cassette copies were made of SURPRISE. Better Than Ezra formed in 1988 by Kevin Griffin on vocals and guitar and Cary Bonnecaze on drums while attending LSU in Baton Rouge. With the addition of Joel Rundell on guitar and Tom Drummond on bass, they moved into a house together and began focusing on writing their own songs. On August 8th, 1990, after playing a show at Murphy's Bar in Baton Rouge, Joel unexpectedly passed away. The band continued as a trio, leaving SURPRISE behind as the only release featuring the original line-up.
