In 1837 Carlo Erba, a young heir to an "apothecary's" family in Lombardy, takes over the Farmacia Brera, an historical Milanese store. This will mark the beginning of an extraordinary business path which will lead, thanks to scientific discoveries and technological development, to the creation of the first Italian pharmaceutical company: "Carlo Erba".
"Carlo Erba" successfully launched several innovative products on the market, among which a refreshing beverage: Tamarindo Erba.
A very popular ingredient in Asian cuisine, tamarind pulp is characterized by a pleasantly sour taste. The sourness of tamarind has various beneficial properties: anti-oxidant, antibacterial and effective on intestinal regularity; it is especially a wonderfully refreshing drink.
Tamarindo Erba has been a successful and popular product among the public since its debut in 1898, - when especially during the summer - consumers wanted to offer their guests a refined and exquisite thirst-quencher, obtained by mixing the Tamarindo Erba syrup with iced water.
The same fame is attributed to the packaging: an elegant square bottle with a label telling in red old-time font the history and virtues of the product, with an autograph of the author's original signature: Chemical Engineer, Carlo Erba.
The brand and recipe of this historical drink have been taken over by Cedral Tassoni in the 70's and nowadays it is produced and bottled in the production plant in SalÃ².
Since 1898, the tamarind extract "Erba" with the addition of water to taste, is a drink famous for its refreshing, thirst-quenching properties, and it is indicated during the summer heat and extremely useful as a remedy against the burning thirst. The drink is non-alcoholic.
Ingredients: saccharose - tamarind extract 34% (obtained with the use of 140 gr. Tamarind pulp per 100 gr. obtained extract - water) - water - natural flavors.
