TempTouch Foot Thermometer

The TempTouch® is an infrared skin thermometer. We suggest patients, who have lost the feeling on their feet, take temperatures on the bottom of both feet each morning and compare these temperatures from spot to spot.
Should there ever be a 4ºF difference on the same spot (say the heel of one foot vs. the other) from one day to the next, the spot with the higher temperature is a "hot spot." For the first day simply stay off your feet. If the temperature continues being hotter than the opposite foot site the next day, do not wait - call your doctor for instructions. The action taken can be a simple doctor visit or another suggestion from the clinician. This could save you from an ulcer or an amputation.
