The genesis of this ebook came about after reading over 2000 emails from people the world over: people who were inspired by the bear story and images on my web site and wrote me saying: â€œYour delightful photos are a treasure for the worldâ€ (from Australia),â€ Wonderful pictures of black bears!â€ (from France), â€œYour work is unsurpassedâ€ (from Canada), â€œMade my heart soar!â€ (from Airlie), â€œI write this with tears streaming down my face, overcome by the majesty of nature. I donâ€™t think that I will ever forget the quiet dignity that your photos conveyed so eloquentlyâ€. (from California), and many more.
I have expanded the text from that shown on my web page and added a section about a third generation that came upon the scene in 2011. There are 24 photos of which 16 are new. And with the Kindle you can zoom in on each photo and see a cubs face or a glint in its eye and even the sole of momâ€™s foot as she disappears into the woods.
This brief ebook, suitable for both children and adults, is about one extraordinary black bear sow and her five cubs born in New Hampshire in 2007. That family was documented again in 2008 the cubs now yearlings, and in 2011 when I firmly believe one of the original cubs returned again with three cubs of her own. I hope you will read the text and view the images both as they first appear and when zoomed for close-ups.
