Mark Bagley learned to fly at the age of 15. Eight years later, at the outset of WWII, he already owned and operated his own flying school. Exempt from the draft because of his job instructing U.S. Navy personnel in the use and calibration of steam ship instrumentation, he convinced the draft board to declassify him so he could volunteer for duty with the Army. Within a few short months, he found himself at the joystick of the U.S. Army Air Force's newest secret weapon: the glider.The G Stands for Guts tells the story of military gliders and the men who flew-and died-in them.
