The Naked Savages

As The Naked Savages opens, Johnny Savage follows his dear friend Teddy Roosevelt on a ride through Cuba with old Teddy's Rough Riders--and just barely survives. Once safely back in America, his restlessness leads him to become involved with the movie business--a business that poses a serious challenge to his fidelity to his wife, Rachel.

Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, Johnny's sister, Julie, lives the high life with her beloved husband, Tim--until he pays a hefty price for undermining the Dowager Empress's power.

But as the new generation of Savages grows, it provides more harrowing worries and embarrassments than Johnny, Rachel, or Julie could have ever imagined. Johnny and Rachel's daughter, Brook, is becoming a heavy-drinking flapper of the twenties; Cesare, Rachel's son by her first husband, makes some lucrative and deadly contacts that may lead him to disaster; Cesare's sister, Beatrice, is getting dangerously close to a prominent Italian Fascist; Johnny and Rachel's son, Nick, has a string of romantic dalliances that earn him the nickname "The Naked Savage."

And Julie's daughter, Jasmine, is aligning herself with her father's sworn enemy--the new dictator of China.
