The Reluctant Executioner (The Gunsmith Book 437)

Clint rescues Colton Wainwright, a hangman who is on his way to a town called Fate, Nebraska, from an ambush. The name of the town has the man wondering what his Fare will be if he continues to execute men. At a campfire, over coffee, he asks Clint if he would consider doing this one for him, since he’s already killed so many men. Clint refuses, but does agree to go to Fate with the man, to keep him alive.
