The writer Wu Jun studied and taught in Tsinghua University. He got his doctorate degree at John Hopkins University and went on to become the director of the engineering institute, giving him an opportunity to manage the famous American university for years. He cultivates his daughter to enter into the Massachusetts institute of techonology. Based on dozens of colleges that he and his daughter have visited, the book combines his years' systematic researches on higher education in the USA, the first-hand materials from his interviews with the college teachers and schoolfellows, as well as his thoughts and reflections. In the book, the writer illustrates the education ideas of famous educators from Britain and America and systematically introduces the characters and differences between British schools and Amercian schools. He also contrasts the differences between the east and west and provides advice on self-improvement according to his life experiences.
