- Commonly used to test for carbonates in rocks.

- Caution: Mildly corrosive, use with proper eye and hand protection.
This is a 10% volume dilute solution of Hydrochloric acid and water. Uses include testing rocks for calcium carbonate. A fizzing reaction when a drop of 10% HCl is applied to a rock indicates the presence of calcium carbonate.
