The Stucco Book - The Basics: Everything you need to know to complete a perfect conventional stucco job.
The Stucco Book—The Basics is written for anyone with an interest in stucco, as well as other cementitious building facades. Whether you are an experienced craftsman or a homeowner with a need to know about stucco, this book is a must-read. Herb Nordmeyer has filled the pages with facts, historic background, and thorough explanations that explain the science and the practicality of concrete, cement, formulas, and stucco or stucco-like products. Herb presents his 60+ years of experience in a fashion that is chock-full of anecdotes and humorous comments that are relevant everyday life experiences. At some point during this read, you’ll stop and wonder: is this a humorous book about a technical subject, or a technical text written with a humorous bent? Of course, the answer is the latter. Whenever I have a question regarding stucco, masonry veneer, cement, or concrete, I don’t think about going to the internet. Instead, I contact Herb; I can be sure to receive an immediate and accurate answer, as well as a full explanation finished with a wry bit of humor. Once you hang up the phone or read the email, you’ll wonder how Herb can remember so much information and detail. Rick Garglano, Eldorado Stone As I was reviewing The Stucco Book—The Basics, I heard that Andy Rooney had died. I never met Andy, but in reading his writings and listening to him talk, he could make me uncomfortable and at the same time like him all the more, because he was a man who could tell the truth in a more constructive manner than many others. He not only thoroughly knew what he was talking about, but he also cared very deeply. I’ve known Herb for a number of years and find that, like Andy, he thoroughly knows and cares about any subject he addresses. He is not afraid to poke fun at himself for the mistakes he has made gaining experience and wisdom. If you are a caring professional involved with stucco, this is a must-read book. If you have the good fortune to know or to meet Herb Nordmeyer, you will have no doubt that he not only knows his subject, but he also cares deeply about it. John H.
