This Timken SAS series cast iron pillow block bearing unit is composed of a cast iron housing equipped with two bolt holes for applications where mounting space is limited. Within the housing is a double rubber sealed single row ball bearing that has a wide, extended inner ring for providing additional support to the shaft and accommodating additional lubrication. The bearing locks to the shaft with a setscrew collar. The housing has a stainless steel grease fitting for relubricating the bearing unit. Because of its design, this bearing unit can be mounted and operated in any position. SAS series cast iron pillow block bearing units are used in industrial field applications where excessive moisture and contaminants are common, such as agriculture, fisheries, mining, and logging, among others.

Rolling bearings use rolling elements to maintain the separation between moving parts to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads.
