For hundreds of years the confectioners at Turrons Vicens have blended fresh roasted almonds and honey to create a candy that is celebrated across Spain. This set features four of the classics. Crunchy almond brittle is the most popular, packed with roasted almonds. Next is the soft bar of ground roasted almonds blended with mil flores honey. Third is the yema quemada (crÃ¨me brÃ»lÃ©e), a flame charred bar made of ground almonds and egg yolks. Last is crunchy guirlache turrÃ³n featuring roasted almonds glazed with a crunchy honey coating. The master confectioners at Vicens make each bar of turrÃ³n by hand, much as they have since 1775. Turrons Vicens is based in the small village of Agramunt in Catalonia. The turrÃ³n candy of Agramunt is so special that it has protected status (PGI) to ensure top quality and preservation of the local traditions. TurrÃ³n with this status must follow strict methods and must be made in the village of Agramunt. In 2016, Angel Velasco, the master turrÃ³n maker at Vicens, was awarded the title of "Best Pastry Chef in the World" at the prestigious Madrid Fusion food show.
