MEDICINE HEAD were always masters of minimalistic rock n roll, whether kicking up a storm on stage with just harmonica, bass drum, cymbal and guitar, or creating vastly-under-rated hit records, sneaking blues into the charts with the likes of Pictures In The Sky. JOHN FIDDLER and PETER HOPE EVANS had been doing it for well over half a decade, through thick and thin, the group bobbling, uneasily, through different line-ups, eventually going through a spell as a five-piece. But while every record was touched with that Medicine Head magic, they were never a big group at heart. Two Man Band captures their, well, two man band outlook on life at its best but adds flourishes from the best of Briish musicians, including Ashton, Gardner & Dyke and Family piano man TONY ASHTON, MOTT THE HOOPLE keyboard whiz MORGAN FISHER (later to team up with John in BRITISH LIONS) and pedal steel virtuoso B.J. COLE, who played with everyone from John Cale to The Verve.
