He slid from the saddle in front of the sheriffâ€™s office. Tying Dunnie he told Jody and Jim to get down. â€˜Canâ€™t, weâ€™re tied to the saddle horn.â€
Shorty didnâ€™t untie the ropes, just cut them with his knife. They dismounted and walked inside. A deputy jumped to his feet. â€œWhatâ€™er you doingâ€™ with Jody anâ€™ Jim?â€
â€œWhereâ€™s the sheriff?â€
â€œGone over to Page.â€
â€œIâ€™m lockinâ€™ these fellers up for a spell.â€
â€œYer in the wrong town Master. This is Frank Collinsâ€™ town anâ€™ them are his sons.â€
â€œAre you gonna help er get in the way?â€
â€œOnly help Iâ€™ll give is get you the doctor, if you donâ€™t pass out first.â€ Out the door he ran as Shorty locked the boys up and sat down behind the desk.
