Ube (or ubi) is the Filipino word for purple yam (Dioscorea alata). It is cooked with sugar and eaten as a sweetened dessert or jam called ube halaya, which is a bright violet color. Ube is also an ingredient in the popular fruity dessert halo, halo. Ube Type Extract, Natural & Artificial (formerly known as Imitation Ube Extract ) can be used in a variety of desserts including ice cream, Swiss roles, tarts, cookies and cakes. It has a nutty flavor with a coconut-like background note. Our Ube Type Extract, Natural & Artificial is clear to pale orange in color. The color will not impact your finished product.
