Anchor the Fixed Jaw: Hook the fixed jaw securely onto a straight reference point. This is usually the last properly installed deck board or, for the first board, the rim joist or frame of the deck
Engage the Adjustable Jaw: Place the adjustable jaw over the edge of the new, warped deck board that you need to straighten. Position it along the board where the bow is most pronounced
Apply Pressure and Lock: Squeeze the handle. This action engages the cam mechanism, pulling the warped board tightly against the straight reference board
Fasten the Board: While the tool holds the board under maximum tension and in perfect alignment, use your drill or impact driver to fasten the board to the joist with two or three screws
Release and Move On: Release the locking mechanism, move the tool down the board to the next joist (if needed to counteract a persistent bow), and repeat the process
