Individual hammered grooves around the bottom cymbal's edge rapidly vent trapped air and helps produce a quick and clearly-defined "chick". The extra amount of "sizzle" sound generated by Zildjian Mastersound Hi Hats really adds a special dimension to the music you're playing. The design also adds extra high-end "sparkle" to overtones when the cymbals are played partially open.
