Music: Jill Scott - The Light of the Sun
She is the essential queen of soul
and she moonlights by doing her other visible talents that is being the
actress, poet and a very committed mother to her lovely son Jett
Hamilton Roberts. She is a philanthropist who is ploughing back to the
community that is privileged doing the advocacy working in helping the
deserving students to accomplish their academic schooling through her
Blues Babe Foundation which has assisted many of its recipients to
achieve their academic endeavors. With regards to what we know her best
of doing… that is to mesmerize us with her soulful and melodic voice and
just to prove that with me her I have such CD that will move your
jagged edges move the way you will love to see that happen. The album is
titled The light of the Sun which is one of her latest offering and
happens to be her fourth studio album that she has released sometime
last week which to be precise was on June 21, 2011, under the stable
Blues Babe Records and Warner Bros. Records since she has parted ways
with Hidden Beach Recordings.
Since
her hiatus from the music industry methinks that was a nice move
because since her 2007 album The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3 she
has incorporated wide variety of style to her genre kind of sound by
being versatile without losing the touch and sound that we know from
her. The album comprise of the full 15 awesome tracks that are so
debonair and worth listening for. In terms of the production and stuff
she has executively produced the album herself with the assistance of
J.R Hutson (Pharell, Faith Evans); The Light of The Sun features
appearances by rappers Paul Wall, Doug E. Fresh, and Eve and traverses
the rocky terrain of love, longing and loss. The first single, "So in
Love," is a duet with Anthony Hamilton. When Scott first heard the
record, a soul-filled melody that evokes the legendary pairing of Marvin
Gaye and Tammi Terrell, she was moved to tears. She even retorts this
by saying "This music came about in a very organic way," reflecting on the free-style jam sessions that resulted in the creation of The Light of the Sun. She says she has enjoyed the recording process more than she has ever before.
