Rolex watches are popularly regarded as status symbols, besides living to it’s performance as a status watch. Rolex had its best moments and inspired other big brands to improve their game in the watch making world. Rolex was the first wristwatch to introduce an automatic changing date on the dial with the Rolex datejust in 1945, the first with the waterproof case to 100m (330ft.) with the Rolex Oyster Perpetual Submarine 1953, first to show two time zones at once with the Rolex GMT Master, 1954 and it was the first for wrist watch to earn chronometer certification for a wristwatch. 

The first self-winding Rolex wristwatch was offered to the public in 1931, proceed to the market by Harwood which patented the design in 1923 and produced the first self-winding watch in 1928, powered by an internal mechanism that used the movement of wearer’s arm. This not only made watch-winding unnecessary, but eliminated the problem of over winding a watch and harming its mechanism. 

Rolex watches vary in prices according to the models and the materials used. So does the status of the owners for instead the Cuban revolutionist wore a stainless steel Rolex GMT Master, Actor Paul Newman wears the customised version of the Rolex Daytona (known as the Paul Newman Daytona). The Rolex Submariner has appeared in eleven James Bond  movies as well as in the original books and was worn by Bond creator.
