Star Trek - Bes Prices

Star Trek becomes an online game to become real live-action

The massively popular ‘star’  titled series and franchise, even earning its followers a special title, Star Trek is to become a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG). The new Cryptic Studios game will give Trekkies an opportunity to be commander of their own fleet, and looks set to be more popular than World of Warcraft.

The possibility of the game to carve out its own story line while still adhering to the events of both the series and the offshoot films, was difficult for creators, yet the Hobus supernova and the destruction of the Romulan homeworld both make an appearance. Crossovers from the TV series including ships, characters and settings will also be featured in the multiplayer online game, including the option to be beamed up – only not by Scotty.

By 2409, the time period in which game is set, many of the characters will have passed away making cameos impossible. Instead gamers will have to be satisfied with the opportunity to act out their own roles to bring the game back to live-action.

Unlike the films and the TV series, the game will not be limited to a couple of hours play. Designers promise years of expansions and upgrades, changing the direction of the franchise, which will hopefully live up to the success of the latest film “Star Trek” (featuring Eric Bana and Zachary Quinto)

The MMORPG is set for release on the 2nd of February 2010.
