‘Global warming bad for the
economy’ says Sarah Palin
Despite stating that “climatologists
tell us that the current rate of warming is unprecedented” in
July of last year, then-Governor of Alaska Sarah Palin now states that
global warming is, like gravity, a natural occurrence. While President
Barack Obama attended the futile talks in Copenhagen to get developed
nations to pay penalties for gas emissions, Palin stated that reducing
emissions would result in job losses and economic costs.
Palin, though, did some research
to back up this theory by creating a subcabinet to look into global
trading markets and renewable energies, including energy conservation
and efficiency to come to this grand conclusion. Encouraging Obama to
stay away from the Danish capital and avoid talks on global warming,
the American politician gained slight backing from the population as
American politicians do: by inflaming the mood rather than talking sense
to the American people (seattlepi.com).
This statement came amidst the final
stages of her book tour, Going Rogue: An American Life which
traces how an ordinary citizen and mother takes on high-stake national
politics. The book followed Palin’s rapid rise to fame following her
speech at the Republican National Convention which electrified the nation
and made her one of the most recognisable women in the world.
