Armani goes Gaga

Italy’s most famous designer, known for his Asian imagery and interplay of masculinity and femininity, Giorgio Armani is perhaps perfectly positioned to design androgynous techno singer Lady Gaga’s outfits for her Monster Ball Tour. Ordinarily the star takes a definitively more avant-garde approach to dress, but has now opted for the Armani’s more privé designs – the likes of which have been donned by Anne Hathaway and Penelope Cruz on the red carpet.

The designer created two body suits, a geometrically mirrored minidress with black leather trench coat and a pair of the singer’s trademark sunglasses – all sparkly in true Gaga fashion. This though is not the first time Armani has teamed up with Gaga: the designer crafted her January 2010 Grammy Awards’ gown, replete with silver wire rings orbiting her bodice.

The designer’s garments though are not the most outrageous to be warn by Gaga as she donned a transparent plastic dress with chicken-leg bracelet and giant diamond encrusted lobster on her head for a quiet dine out at Mr Chow’s in London in earlier this month.

A fan of the singer, Armani noted that Gaga’s music is the soundtrack of our time as we wear wherever we go, while she herself is a modern fashion phenomenon.
