BlackBerry’s Enterprise Server coordinates SA Fashion Week

As testament to its style, BlackBerry has become the official handset for the 2010 SA Fashion Week. Research In Motion’s (RIM) new BlackBerry Enterprise Server Express makes the gadget perfect for organisers to run and coordinate the popular event remotely. Every aspect of the show can be managed from the handset, says Gadget magazine.

The Enterprise Server Express software equipped on the smartphone creates a mobile business network allowing employees for one enterprise to stay connected. The software makes use of Microsoft® Exchange or Windows® Small Business Server and enables users to sync their mobiles with their calendars, email, contacts and tasks making it possible to work remotely.

As dedicated to style and trends as SA fashion, RIM says that they’re excited to be a part of the Fashion Week. The trendy company has recently acquired Viigo–a Toronto -based software company that currently makes applications for the BlackBerry. The company specialiases in a BlackBerry application that providing realtime content provides realtime content (politics, sports, weather aggregator in one application).

RIM bought outfit Viigo amidst rumours that they had began developing similar applications for competitor Apple’s iPhone. Although the company had its eye on Viigo for some time, the rumours were just enough to push them over the fence and stop them sharing the technology with other smartphone companies.
