Jennifer Lopez leaves Sony Records
Appearing on Saturday Night Live this last weekend, Jenny from the Block didn’t have much to promote after leaving giant record label Epic Records by Sony Music. According to Entertainment Weekly the star split from the record company with whom she has released all her albums. The recording company was to release Lopez’s seventh album in April.
J.Lo took time off to turn her and husband Marc Anthony into parents
and was slated for a comeback album, the hype of which was to be created
by single “Louboutins” released last year. After the single failed to
make it into the top 10 singles list, heat for her comeback album cooled
off. The singer’s manager Benny Madina then told Deadline Hollywood
that the singer and actress has had a good, longstanding relationship
with the music group, but thought it was time to change with the new
direction her career is taking her. Claiming that there is no bad blood
between her and the label, Madina said that Jenny was grateful and
appreciative to everyone at Sony.
According to the story that was broken by Deadline Hollywood, the
singer fulfilled her contract with the single “Louboutins” and “Fresh
Out the Oven” which was leaked online in October. There is no
information as to whether or not her new album was finished yet – but
reportedly features the Neptunes, Jim Jonsin, Danja and Rodney Jerkins.
According to some sources the album is nowhere near completion.
J.Lo who looks to be more into her acting career, will release another romantic comedy “The Back-Up Plan” in April this year.
