Julia Stiles joins Dexter for 5th Season
Actress Julia Stiles best known for her roles in "The Bourne Identity" series, "10 Things I Hate About You" and "Mona Lisa Smile" has joined Michael C. Hall in the popular television series Dexter for its fifth season. The last season ended with the death of the protagonist's wife, leaving a love-interest role available for the actress. According to Reuters, Stiles will play a mysterious young woman who forms a unique relationship with Dexter in the wake of his wife's death.
The Hollywood Reporter said that Stiles will appear for 10 episodes of the new season which begins filming June 2010. She will be joined by Julie Benz, whose Dexter character Rita Morgan (Dexter's wife killed off in season four). Southland's Shawn Hatosy will also be joining the cast for the 5th season of Dexter but not in his conventional cop role. According to sources, Hatosy will be playing a villain in a couple of episodes before returning to film Southland's third season.
The show, based on characters from Jeff Lindsay's series of novels with the same title, falls into the unique television category of horror-drama. It follows the protagonist Dexter Morgan, a forensic blood spatter expert working for the Miami Metro Police, who is also a serial killer. His psychopathic tendencies though are directed towards "only those who deserve it" such as murderers who have escaped the legal system. The Dexter Season Four is almost available on DVD, but can be preordered on WantItAll for an August delivery.
