How to get fit defensively

One of the latest routines in fitness exercise, BodyCombat™ takes karate, boxing, taekwondo, tai chi and muay thai and marries them in a couple of body pummeling DVDs with music to match the choreography. The exercise technique was created not only to help those with such a desire to lose weight, but to more importantly to improve fitness and exercise the heart.

A typical class will see your instructor show you all the moves that will be used throughout the class. (Note: this is not a self defense course, it’s a non-contact fitness program. You cannot fight crime after watching these vids.) You will then use these moves in a series of fight combinations that focus on speed, power and endurance to improve your fitness. The final combo sees you go into Neo-vs-Mr Smith combat mode. The final step is on-the-floor strength training that stretches your muscles.

Every three months, the creators of the DVD series releases a new class–that is new moves and combos with new choreographed music. The DVDs can be used for people of various fitness levels and require only a modicum of co-ordination. According to creators, BodyCombat™ improves lung and heart function, tones muscles, improves co-ordination and improves bone density–something only thought to improve through resistance training (that is with weights).

WantItAll offers a range of fitness DVDs such as Jillian Michaels’ The Biggest Winner which features kick-boxing cardio workouts.
