Solar-powered camera strap by Weng Jie

So you’ve bought the Nikon D90 and all it’s accessories, amped to start shooting when your battery dies leaving you cursing at all the reasons that made you forget to charge your camera. Well, Weng Jie’s concept solar camera strap would solve all your problems.

PC World reported on the designer’s concept device this week, indicating that it might be the most legitimate solar strap to date. The design is incredibly simple and sleek, so it doesn’t look and feel like you’re sporting a solar panel around your neck, while making charging your batteries semi-obsolete.

The panel fits neatly onto the normal neck-strap and connects to the camera, hopefully (we cannot know for sure as this is only a concept device unavailable for testing), providing the camera with enough power to run smoothly… in the sun that is.

Devices like this have already been created for smartphones, which are much more power-grubbing than a DSLR, so such a concept could become a reality relatively soon. For pictures of the device and how it functions visit Yanko Designs.
