ARTHUR E. MORGAN Ink signature as Chairman of the Board, Tennessee Valley Authority Signature: "Arthur E. Morgan", 1p, 8½x11. On letterhead of the Tennessee Valley Authority, Arthur E. Morgan, Chairman of the Board of Directors. Civil engineer Arthur Ernest Morgan (1878-1975), as Design Engineer of the Miami (Ohio) Conservancy District, initiated a system of dry earthen dams which have prevented a recurrence of the great Dayton flood of 1913. He later served as the first Chairman of the Tennessee Valley Authority (1933-1938). A Quaker, humanist and prolific author, Morgan was President of Antioch College (1920-1936) and of the Progressive Education Association (1921). Paperclip crease and rust stain at upper left corner.
