Description
GEORGE SPERTI The inventor of Aspercreme and Preparation H signed this to James Timbers, encouraging him to explore the sciences and eventually became an inventor such as himself. An extremely rare signature. Typed Letter signed: "George Sperti", 1 page, 6¾x6¼. Cincinnati, Ohio, February 10, 1931. On letterhead of the Basic Science Research Laboratory, University of Cincinnati to James Timbers, Mauston, Wisconsin. In Full: "I feel quite flattered to have received a request from you for my signature. I am sending you under separate cover an autographed picture which I believe will serve your purpose. [Separate item not included.] I hope that some day you will be 'a great scientist and engineer' as your father thinks I am. Very sincerely yours". George Sperti (1900-1991) was the Director of Basic Science Research at the University of Cincinnati. Sperti made major contributions to pain relief, inventing Aspercreme for arthritis and Preparation H for hemorrhoids. He made equally significant contributions to food processing: the Sperti UV light, which irradiated milk for Vitamin D without changing its taste; and a method of freeze-drying orange juice concentrate. He received 127 patents, donating the proceeds from the sale of these methods to the University of Cincinnati and to the St Thomas Institute for Advanced Studies, the latter of which he founded. One horizontal fold. Irregularly cut at edges. Mounting residue at corners. Lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition. - Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information. HFSID 298731
