Description
BAFTA nominated SOME VOICES is an enigmatic and unconventional love story set in West London about two people trying to make sense of the madness of their lives, starring Daniel Craig (Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace) and Kelly MacDonald (Trainspotting, No Country For Old Men).
The film centres on the relationship between the mysterious but likeable Ray, who has recently been released from a psychiatric hospital, and his over-protective brother Pete, a restaurateur, who tries to take care of him. Things start well, with Ray working for his brother and living his new life to the hilt. But when Ray falls head over heels in love with Laura, an unpredictable Glaswegian, and stops taking his medication, things start to spiral out of control...
Director Simon Cellan-Jones, who had already directed Daniel Craig in the magnificent TV series 'Our Friends in the North' films a West London of tower blocks, duel carriage-ways and chaotic crowded streets in a way that mirrors Ray's mental disintegration. In a strong cast Craig, still up-and-coming in 2000, is superb, conveying all of Ray's joy, frustration and fear.
SOME VOICES was hugely popular with festivals and played in prestigious slots at Dinard and Edinburgh as well as the Directors' Fortnight sidebar in Cannes Film Festival.
BONUS FEATURE: Short films BUTTERFLY WORLD (approx 10 mins) and Palme D'Or nominated short film OUT OF TOWN both starring David Morrissey.
